TappedOut’s April Fools Joke:
Hopefully everyone had a joyful April 1st, yesterday! I thought I’d do a little recap of some of the Magic pranks that were played in the online community!
First up! TappedOut.net’s pokemon prank! Here’s a quote from yeago of TappedOut:
After many long years of playing magic I’ve decided that my heart just isn’t into the game as much as it was. TappedOut, for me, has been a labor of love.
I’m going to publicly admit what most of you are probably too scared to, but you know in your hearts to be true: MTG is nothing but a rip-off of Pokemon. It always has been. Chandra Ablaze? Yeah right, what a blatant rip of Charmander.
Once I admitted this to myself, I’m finally having the fun I should in a real competitive setting. Even though most of the players are 9, I find them to be an enthusiastic bunch. I’m 30 years old, so obviously when I joined most of the parents withdrew their children as they were a little freaked out. Nevermind I dunk on them ruthlessly, spiking a Beedrill or Starmie in their face.
Also, I’m bringing you all with me. Any decks you have on TappedOut have been painstakingly converted to their Pokemon counterparts.
Pictured above are the results of the prank! Instead of Magic cards popping up when you hover over the card name, Pokemon cards would pop up instead!
If you didn’t get to experience this prank, that’s alright! I heard it was kind of frustrating and annoying! But hey! It’s all in good fun. Gotta love websites that participate in April Fools!
